Police - D.A.R.E. Program

DARE “ JUST SAY NO”

In 1992 the Lambertville Police Department began teaching DARE at the Lambertville Public School. The DARE program was initally taught to 5th graders until 1993 when Ptl. Polyak expanded the DARE program to Kindergarten and 3rd grade.  Todays students are not only

The original DARE program was taught to 5th graders, then in 2003 Ptl. Polyak expanded DARE to 3rd graders and Kindergarten.

Today students at St. Johns Evangelist School and Lambertville Public School attend DARE classes.

DARE teach children to stay drug free, tobacco free and alcohol free. DARE teaches students how to deal with peer pressure and different ways to say “ NO “ ! etc. But DARE isn’t all classroom lecture. In 2003 with the help of local sponsors Lambertville Police converted a retired police car into its “ DARE CAR “. DARE students have also been fortunate to attend field trips that include: snow tubing, baseball games, rope challenge courses etc. The lesson behind these field trips is to show students a positive way to spend your time instead of resorting to drugs, tobacco and alcohol use.

This program was taught by Sgt. Jeff Jones 1992 to 1994, Sgt. Michael O’Rourke 1994 to 1999, Ptl. Michael Boszolak 1999 to 2000 and Ptl. Sharon Polyak 2002 to present.
