JCP&L TREE TRIMMING PROJECT: In response to many resident concerns, city officials, the City Planner and members of the Shade Tree Commission met Wednesday morning with JCP&L regarding the utility's tree trimming program. JCP&L has agreed to work more closely with the City to provide a schedule for the work, including streets and dates. Any homeowner may request, through the City, that a member of the Shade Tree Commission be present while the crews are in their immediate area. This is part of JCP&L's four-year tree-maintenance program as mandated by the state Board of Public Utilities, and homeowners cannot opt out. Homeowners are further urged not to attempt to trim trees on their own, due to the presence of power lines, or hire their own services as many contractors do not carry the proper certifications for working in such close proximity to the power lines.
