WEATHER UPDATE FOR 9/8/21

September 8, 2021  3:00 PM

The City of Lambertville is monitoring weather forecasts for rain expected tonight, Wednesday, 9/8 into tomorrow, Thursday, 9/9.

The forecast is currently calling for less than one inch of rain. With already saturated ground, flash floods are possible, but forecasts do not indicate that we will experience a repeat of Tropical Storm Ida. During Ida, Lambertville saw three to four inches of rain per hour at times, for a total of nearly 11 inches of rain overall.

The City is working with the NJ Department of Transportation, Hunterdon County, and the Lambertville Municipal Utilities Authority to prepare for the storm by clearing storm drains and catch basins, dredging Ely Creek, and removing piles of mud from streets. We are doing all we can to minimize the chance for additional damage in our community.

Please continue to monitor forecasts and prepare for the storm. The National Weather Service forecast can be found here: https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=40.3681&lon=-74.9412#.YTjzI45Kh9A
