UPDATE: FEMA, Debris, SUEZ, JCP&L, Shelter/Housing

September 4, 2021  11:00AM

FEMA assessors will be evaluating damage in our community throughout the day. This process is important for the City and residents to ultimately apply for damage relief.

STORM DEBRIS: The City is aware of the significant debris and the need for dumpsters and back loaded trucks. We have made requests to the Governor's office and the County for relief and are working to deliver dumpsters and trucks in the coming days. While you are cleaning out debris from your home please separate "white debris" such as washers, dryers, or hot water heaters - do not throw any appliances (white debris) away; the City will be coordinating alternate disposal for those items. All household debris and vegetative matter does not need to be seperated. We will work with residents to manage the debris once the trash trucks have been delivered. We understand that this is frustrating and we are doing everything in our power to address this issue quickly.

SUEZ UPDATE: Suez reported that they are up and functional; however, THE CITY IS ON A BOIL WATER ORDER. We anticipate that this will be lifted on Sunday evening, September 5, 2021. Continue to watch for alerts. Suez can be reached at 877-565-1456 should you have any questions or comments.

JCP&L continues to work on the power lines.  They are working to ensure all of our community has power. If you are without power, we ask that you contact JCP&L and the City. If you are experiencing continued loss of power please report it to JCP&L, even if you have already reported your outage. It is important that they receive user requests for power restoration.

SHELTER AND HOUSING: With support from the South Hunterdon Regional School District and the City of Lambertville, the American Red Cross is operating a shelter at the South Hunterdon Regional High School (301 Mt. Airy-Harbourton Road). The shelter will be open from Friday, 9/3 through at least Saturday, 9/4. The Red Cross will reassess the need for the shelter on Saturday based on usage. Social services will be provided by the Red Cross, Hunterdon County, and other providers as coordinated by the Red Cross. You can also access these services even if you don’t need a place to sleep - anyone with a disaster-related need can visit the shelter to be directed to the appropriate resources.

Those who need housing support should call the City of Lambertville at 609.697.0110 x 12.
